Okay, I made some lotion bars and added some vanilla oil (which was infused in jojoba oil). I thought they would smell very nice, but now that I have unmolded them, I really can't smell anything but the cocoa butter. My batch made about 10 bars and I added about 12 drops of the vanilla oil, which I thought would be WAY too much. Any suggestions? Should I use cocoa butter that has been deodorized? Is this how you can add essential oils and be able to smell them?

you could always try to add more, twelve drops does not seem like much depending on the size of bars you are making

My lotion bars are about 1 ounce each. Maybe I could add more oil. I tend to be cautious about how much I add because some oils are very expensive and can cost up to .10 a drop. Maybe I am just not adding enough.

10 cents a drop is high. what fragrance materials (essential oils?) are you using that cost $60 per ounce? I know some materials are very high, like rose, but wow!

I get some of my oils from Young Living. Not all of them are that expensive, thank goodness, but a few are very pricey!

Ah. YL.

You can get the same quality (no matter what YL tells you) at a fraction of the price from many of the supplies we deal with. I purchase in bulk (kilo amounts, usually) from New Directions Aromatics and Essential Oils University but I'm sure people here can tell you where to get smaller quantities.

I'll search around and see what *I* can come up with, though.

Thank you carebear...I would greatly appreciate that! I guess I fell victim to their claims that they were SO GOOD. I look forward to hearing back from you.

For small amounts the recommendations seem to be:

1 - Liberty Naturals
3 - Camden Grey
2 - New Directions Aromatics

For larger amounts try
New Directions Aromatics & Essential Oils University
