Why discount water?

I understand why people discount lye, to superfat the soap, by why discount water? Is it to get it to cure more quickly? Like there is less water to evaporate, therefore it is cured more quickly? Or some other reason?

Yes, it's to shorten cure (hardening) time.

I was wondering this myself. The best info I have been able to find online about discounting water is here:

I'm just a beginning soaper and I have not tried discounting water yet, so I don't really know if this info is useful or not. But I think I might try it some day ...
