I live in S. Florida. I worked an overnight shift last night. Seriously as I was driving in, BUCKETS of rain. It would be like...no rain, then a bucket would just hit you out of nowhere. Im used to driving in the rain down here, but i wasnt prepared for this. Literally driving 30 mph or less last night on the turnpike.

I got in and jokingly said...did we get a hurricane tonight that i wasnt aware of?? No...tropical storm. I usually keep track of these things, but as far as i knew it was missing us completely...

It was so bad lol.

I love this website. We watch storms forming and moving towards land. If you use the chem overlay (go to Earth and the 3 horizontal lines), you can see where the fires are and where the smoke is going. We can see what cold fronts (by temp) are moving towards us. Even now, it looks like theres a good storm brewing over the Atlantic, heading towards the US coast.

Here's what it looks like off the E. Coast right now.

Here's our current Fire/Smoke situation. We live around the green circle. It's smoky here today but not nearly as bad as it is to the south of us, thankfully. I have a market today... outdoors.

We watch NOAA for the hurricanes. I usually keep an eye on it all hurricane season, but noooobody said anything about this lol. Its like it was a surprise last night. Couple days ago they put us under tropical storm watch, but then lifted it. Next thing i know im driving through it late at night lol.

Freaky! I've only ever experienced rain like that once. It was like driving into a wall of water. Once side of the street was clear, the other was pouring!

We get that here a lot. Sometimes you can be sitting on the porch and watch it rain on the neighbors, sometimes you cand see the wall of water coming toward you...”Here it comes!”

Im originally from philadelphia. Even 13 years later in florida the weather still amazes me down here

I remember visiting my son in Key West when he was 20 (that was a long time ago!) and the instant and short-loved downpours in the midst of a bright sunny day were certainly a remarkable phenomena. The other thing that amazed me was that I could order a cup of hot coffee that would never cool down while I sat outside in the Key West heat & humidity. Actually there were many remarkable things about Key West that amazed me, but that instant downpour thing was unforgettable.

Yes! I also live in South Florida and was amazed. I thought Sally was going to miss us - well, not so much!

I remember when I moved here in early 2005 - I was driving down 95 (which for those that don't know, is the major north/south route in east Florida. I looked over to the turnpike (which runs parallel to 95 for a period of time) and it was absolutely pouring buckets on the cars there, while I was totally dry, it was amazing. The two roads were about 100 feet apart at that point.
