Today I rang Bunnings and Mitre 10 with no luck. I know I can get it on line easily but was hoping to get some this weekend and avoid the postage cost plus waiting time.

Can you buy it irl?

She is. Potassium hydroxide is the type of lye needed to make liquid soaps. Sodium hydroxide is the lye used to make bar soap.

I have never seen potassium hydroxide anywhere in the shops, but I have never looked for it.
I buy my sodium hydroxide in bunnings, I get 2kg for $12.99. It's the same one that's available in the supermarkets, just a bigger package.

My name is Carol. I am just trying to find out, is potash for the garden the same as potassium hydroxide. Can anyone help me with this?

Welcome to the form. This post is from 2009 and the members haven't been here in years. You would do better to start a new thread. But no, to your question. Not the same thing.
