I live in a tiny studio. I make my soap on the kitchen table. For lye mixing I have a stool with a fan pointing out the window. I've lost some storage in cupboards to my oils and such and then I have a bigish box in my closet for soap to set up in and then bins under the sink for storing finished soap. Storage isn't so much a problem as I give away allot of soap.

I am blessed to have a HUGE kitchen so I have an area in the corner away from everything else that I use. My supplies take up all those cabinets and I cure my soaps in a closet on a metal shelf

In the kitchen, but I have an huge empty bedroom to dry the soaps in -that side of the house smells divine :)

Love that craft room LSG - I have a studio converted into a parents in law retreat - but since they don't visit that often.......

in the kitchen. and my kitchen is tiny, i even had to close the stove and use the space on top of it for my mold, mixing bowls, etc.

I feel like I shouldn't even be a part of this thread I'm so spoiled!

We have (had) a room over the garage for company. With an "almost a kitchen" it had a little motel room type fridge, and counter and a few cabinets. So I bought a hot plate and found a little table. Now it's mine! :D

Lucky yous that have your own soaping room. Hmmm.. Someday.. Someday...

Miranda, we have lived in this house for over thirty years and I just now got my craft room. I love it. I am down there working on something almost every day.

This is a very sore subject in my house right now. He has been in the process of building my shelves in the closet for almost two months. Until then my "soaping supply area" is below. Take note of the giant pile of crap I want to use for mold later, next to the five gallon buckets full of various bottles, and the bags of clays and acids, next to his shoes and work boots that he chucks on my stuff.

This was especially convenient when the police came to ask if they could look at our surveillance camera tapes (we have signs out front letting people know they are out there). Between the camera and the 12 pounds of lye in the box that I have now moved to the top of the closet, I am certain they thought we were cooking meth in our off time.

ETA: This is also all sitting right next to a $2000 microfiber couch. The blanket at the front is actually sitting on top of it. This closet was supposed to be finished before my order got here. Now it is just an avalanche of soap stuff.

Lol at the meth part... im afraid that clutter will be me in a few months. You should repost after pics when your all finished.

Depending on what I'm making. My soaps are made in my downstairs kitchen and lotions in my upstairs kitchen. Our house is an up/down duplex which we don't rent out so I have that kitchen plus a downstairs bedroom and I still don't have enough room

I make soap in the kitchen.
Children and cat have to go to the living room when I'm soaping and nobody is allowed to be around me.
I have few spare storage rooms and shed where I keep most of my supplies and where the soaps are drying. Lye is always stored in the shed which has padlock and keys are hidden from everyone.
I only make soap on a small scale, few batches every 2-3 weeks. However, I am thinking of maybe selling and making more but I'm not really sure where will all the stuff be stored then. I am in a process of ordering few big drums of oils and have to find place for their storage inside the house. It's still very hot here, so only after maybe March they might be able to go into shed.

The door in the picture is our front door. We have two front doors, but the first one is inside a glassed in patio at the front of the house. We thought that the people coming to the door were trying to help us find Jesus and we both just got home and were trying to rest and eat dinner. When we didn't answer, they started pounding really hard on that door, which I obviously can't open right now and we had to let them in through the front and told them that we don't use that door. When they walked in, I had made soap earlier that day and the box (which was clearly marked Lye on the side) was sitting on that shelf. He used a pen to peek inside it and asked what I was doing with it. On the floor were all the big bags of white powder (Clays, citric and stearic acid, etc) Luckily my drying rack is in the hallway, right across from it and I was able to point at it and say I make soap. Ugh!

But yes, I will post pics IF he ever gets the closet finished. I can't wait. It all looks neat and clean the day after I make soap. I clean the utensils and stuff and reorganize everything, but on days like today when I actually make something I have to tear the whole pile apart to find what I am looking for. I'm still new enough that I am making something different every time. If you can believe it, the rest of the house is spotless enough to eat off of the floors.

I have a soaping area in the basement. Deep sink, bathroom, full size fridge, microwave and 2 burner hot plate. I wish I had more counter space but if works nicely and it's mine.

I've been making soap at my bfs place. I put the dogs away first so they aren't in the way or cause spills etc. His kitchen is tiny and there isn't ventilation or a window to open, so we go outside to mix the lye into liquid. After its mixed bring it back inside and then soap on a table we set up in the living room. However, he's decided he hates making soap because its so much work to set up with the table and supplies so I'll probably be making it at home. There is definitely not enough room in our crowded kitchen, I have a hard enough time clearing space to cook. If it was my choice the kitchen wouldn't be this way, but as soon as its cleared off every surface gets covered with stuff again so I've given up. I was only supposed to be living there a couple months and its been nearly 2 years! I can't wait to be able to afford to move. Anyway, so as a result I'm going to start soaping in the garage when I get a stick blender. My bf was borrowing his moms for me to use so I'll need my own for at home.

I use the kitchen, it is very conveniente, Once my soap is in there mold's i cover them with a towel and stick em in a cool dry place, my open closet or right out on my table. You can build a multi layered rack if you make massive amounts of soap.

I also use the kitchen. At the moment the stuff is all stored in the office and I just bring in what I need. I could use the kitchen extractor fan for the lye fumes but prefer mixing it on the balcony and then it has a good chance to cool, too.

If you can cook a meal in the kitchen, you can make CP soap, no worries.

On a side note, Miranda - what do you use that boot for, the one in the picture? Soap mold?

LOL!! At this point, the only thing I am planning to use it for is to kick my husband in the rear end to get my shelves in the closet made so he will stop throwing his shoes on my stuff!
