I agree that it just takes time of experimentation until you decide what is and is not neccessary in your soaping venture. Everyone is different and as long as it works that's what matters. If you are achieving what you want your end product to be then what more can we ask for.
I see folks who post they use 14 different clays, 4 milks etc....I shake my head and say why? I'm sure it's mostly for label appeal but I'm of the thinking that simple is better. I don't think my customers want to read a label that's 14 miles long.
I use and like silk in my soap, I use milk (Coconut, Goats or Buttermilk) but that's about it except for a couple special bars one with clay and one with AC.
