I'm super new to CP soapmaking (I've made 2 batches). I've been reading lots and it seems like some of the processes are personal preference.

I've tried the "search" feature and I'm having a hard time finding threads that are specific to my question so...

I'll keep it specific and ask when do personally add whole, raw milk? With your hot oils? Just before trace? After trace? Frozen and mixed with lye? And why?

If I use milks, I add it to the oils (not hot oils though. I only add them to warm or cool oils) and stick blend them in before I add my lye water. If you wanted to use milk as 100% of your liquids then you freeze it and add the lye to it, to prevent burning.

Are there different benefits to adding milk with the oil or as 100% of my liquids?

I guess, I'm curious if there is a difference in benefits related to when you add it?

newbie means using 100% of her liquids cause she normally uses only uses a portion of her liquids as milk the other portion is water.

There might be slight different benefits due to the reaction and temperature, but for the most part i wouldnt worry.
If you want a soap with a more of a milk body & essence to it use the milk %100, if you just want to add some creaminess and benefit add just a little.

Its up to you , you are the soap artist.

i like to add my milks to the oils coz it's simply easier to do. i have lil patience with adding lye to the milk, adding it lil by lil, all the while my eyes keep watching for any sign of scorching. too much! :D
