I made this soap with some rock hound friends in mind. I called it fire agate. Unfortunately I used black oxide for color, and the lather is gray. I have used it in the bath and it didn't color the tub and rinsed off fine. Right now it is my kitchen soap, because I don't know what else to us it for. It has the look of lava on the top.
I think it is fun. but I have 15 bars of it. If I used charcoal for the black would I have avoided this problem

I should add that I don't think your soap looks like dirt. I was referring to the gray lather. I was thinking rocks/interesting things that you have to excavate for ;)

I don't mind colored lather a bit. My very most favorite soap ever in the whole world had a brown lather. I thought it was cool & that was the actual bar that inspired me to learn how to make soap. It was a bar of cedar someone brought me back from London.

It's beautiful ! Of course I'd use it like any other soap.

I am not relying the lather color to tell me how dirty I am.

That sure is one awesome soap you have there! It's magical! I love it!

Don't care about the coloured lather either... It's not like you wear a lather, it rinses right off and down the drain.

Visually, that soap is 5 stars!

that is totally gorgeous soap! i don't mind colored lather either. in fact, my best-selling soap is black, with a LOT of activated charcoal, and the lather is gray. i just tell people to use an old washcloth, as it will stain :)

Colored lather doesn't bother me and a few people I've given soap too don't mind either. Some do, though, and brown or gray lather would be a put off. I had one person think a vanilla soap was going to stain their tub because they got brown dribbles from where they set the soap. They didn't like that at all. I told them it was just the color of the soap and it should just wash off, but they were a little upset. I learned from him to always warn people trying a dark soap that that might happen.

Thanks for the input, and the compliments on my soap. I am giving it to friends and family, but warning them about the gray suds. It rinses off of my white washclothes, so I think it will be fine with the warning as you suggest.
