Mixed metaphor. (English Major here). That would be Saponification "Metamorphosis". "Shuffle" would be appropriate if they were playing cards or dancing (as in 🎶 "Shuffle Off to Buffalo" 🎶). 😁
Yes but ya gotta love that alliteration!

i dorkily blurted out “that’s an award winning soap!” His reaction: “oh.” 😂
I think it was the bar on the lower right.

Unappreciative, clearly. 😂

And that scent was . . . ?
It was “ Hardwood Musk” from California Candle Supply .- I used it because it sets up fast and I wanted that for the base. It’s a tad cologne-y for my taste.
Hi Vicki. I loved the colors specially the effect of green and black. If you don't mind could you please elaborate is it french green clay you used for the green color and charcoal for the black?
The colorants were chromium oxide, charcoal, and titanium dioxide, in varying amounts. I had mixed them for a challenge here, on SMF, and had some left over.

Great. Oxides are quite bright . I was looking for green since long but was not sure what to use to get sparkling ✨️ green effect .
Thanks

Fall is done and dropped! 😩 I'm exhausted an its just the beginning of the season. Here is the rest of the fall line L-R Tobacco & Bay Leaf, Blazing Bonfire, Flannel dupe, Cranberry & Orange

Your swirls are to die for! I wish mine came out so well.

Wow! This is taking it to another level! Beautiful!

Today I had a farmers market and was selling some soap that won the soap challenge club last January - it was one of these four bars. The buyer bought some other soap too but liked this one because it had a “man scent.” Said nothing about the design. i dorkily blurted out “that’s an award winning soap!” His reaction: “oh.” 😂

OK, after 3 fantastic posts of beautiful soaps, I am inspired to play with my new pillar mold and pull through discs!

Hi All!

Been kind of busy here. Made two 40-bar batches of soap. Mixed, poured and cut. Now drying in my forced-air, ventilated drying tower. What a lot of work. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures.

One batch was called Love Spell (from Windy Point in Canada) and the other was The Perfect Man (from Island Escape, also in Canada.) Love Spell was an In The Pot Swirl with pink and red as the accents (really came out well!) and the second one was another ITP Swirl with Black Lustre and Dark Gold Shimmer. My soap making partner thinks The Perfect Man is the best batch we've ever done. We'll be doing another batch this weekend called "Bite Me". Gonna use black and red accent colors.

Went shopping today and, as usual, I was checking out all the prices for ingredients you can get in a grocery store. Olive oil was still crazy expensive, but when I checked the lard, it was only $2.95 for a one pound block. (Pre-pandemic price, $2.85 and post pandemic price a whopping $4.79!) At $2.95 (at Walmart) I bought 26 blocks. I use 4 blocks in a 5129 grams of oil batch - based on a recipe I worked out with our beloved Resolvable Owl just before he/she disappeared from our midst. I still miss him/her a lot.

My tangentially soapy thang I did was make a batch of cocoa butter lotion bars. I will be on a lotion bar and lip balm making streak this week. At my job, I have resigned (and accepted another position) and given my notice. I want to give my beloved coworkers little tokens of appreciation. There's a whole mess of them in 3 buildings so I'll be a little busy.... Tomorrow I can "work from home" and my definition of that includes taking care of my staff and coworkers. :)

Zing, I know things have been tough for you at work. Wishing you all the best with your new career adventure - and, no doubt, your new legion of soap and lotion bar fans!

The empty black glove... SPOOKY!!! 👻🎃💀 ...very clever. Awesome soaps too!
I hope to see more pictures, more often. Well done!

I found my rice bran oil. At an Asian market. 2 liter was the largest portion. Good stuff. Just hate to pay shipping. For larger portions.
I just did some batches of comparison soap with RBO. It really made the batter more yellow than my usual canola or olive. I was making Test 1, Pko vs CO. Test 2, Pko with Shea vs CO with Shea. Other oils which stayed the same for all 4 batches were PO and RBO.

All micas added in didn't come out like what I expected. All colours were skewed towards yellow. Interesting results to note if using RBO. Not too bad an experiment in all.

I probably won't do that ^ again because I found out when cutting it today that the gold goes EVERYWHERE! It was all over my hands and I didn't even touch the tops as far as I knew. It must be awful in the shower if it goes all over the washcloth, etc.
That has only happened once to me, when I used waaaay more gold-in-oil than previously. The trick for me is to use just enough that it still shows after the oil has absorbed into the soap, but not so much that it comes off on my hands. Since I'm terrible about keeping notes for that type of embellishment, I don't have any advice to offer about amounts or ratios. Sorry!

I watched a video, I cannot remember the title, but they mixed gold mica in isopropyl alcohol and sprayed it on their soap batter. I wondered if it rubbed off when used. Has anyone here tried that?

It's been AGES since I've posted, but I'm still a faithful reader of the forum. :) I tried a new swirl - based on Holly's Chopstick Swirl - and I'm in love!

I used Fragrance Buddy's White Tea & Ginger (recommended on the forum), and I really love it! I think the results of this swirl far outweigh the effort - my kind of swirl!
I gave the chopstick swirl two more tries. I'm also trying out new FOs I got when I was in the USA this summer. The first one is Life Lessons by Frangrance Buddy, and the second one is Persephone, a new fragrance by Micas & More.

I like the green one best (in my original chopstick swirl post above). I think I needed to use the thicker end of the chopstick on the berry and white batch. I needed more dragging of the layers into each other.
