Now that that batch is in molds, I'm going to make my first batch of transparent/translucent soap. I'

First photo of the transparent soap out of the mold. I'll have to read up to see if I can figure out where the tint came from,* but I am not displeased with my first effort!

*I'm guessing it will turn out to be related to the quality of the coconut oil.

But it is clear enough to read through it! Cool beans!

You could build a Corsi-Rosenthal box around the drying stacks! "Yes! You, too, can dry your fresh soap with 98% filtered air!"

@Jorah I even knew what that box was, just not the name of it. I had already commented to my husband that I could put some thing together that is similar to our blue air filter, built on the same principle. So thank you for sharing!!!

Now I am off to explore the cost of air filters. I will need one for the bottom and the top of my set up. They just have to be the right size . . .

We have a big 5-filter rig in our basement, and it has really cut down on the dust level in the house. I love it. I'll be rigging a drying box as soon as I can get the racks.

You might get away with a single filter on the bottom, with the fan on top pulling air through...

Thanks, Shelley! I couldn't resist unmolding the owl, too... I'm very pleased with it!

I'm about to unmold some cavity molds that I did my cherry almond soap in. They smell great!

My goal tonight is to make my
Oatmeal honey and patchouli, lavender, grapefruit soap recipes.
If I'm not exhausted, I'd like to play with my embeds.
🥰
omg, that sounds delicious!

I found and saved them on my Amazon wish list. Hope I found the right ones.

Carlisle FoodService Products RF-14 Blue Color, Polypropylene OptiClean Combination/Flatware Rack https://a.co/d/cF81zPs

Thank you so much for sharing the link for those racks ❤️ much appreciated.

And...gotta say it....nice rack! 🤱 😂 A breastfeeding emoji was the best I could do, unfortunately

Made some cavity mold soaps this mid-afternoon in the matching scent of my 16 pound forest blend soap batch....no, that's not the name of it. Tomorrow I will make the floral scent blend cavity mold soaps to go with the 16 pound batch of matching-scent rectangular bars....and the wheel continues on....got one more scent bar / cavity mold iteration to complete before I will be playing with some locally obtained, freshly-squeezed 😂 goats milk. I don't even know if any of that made any sense....kinda feel like I'm under water at the moment 🌊

Did a whole lot more soap-related research as well....

Mixed a rather large batch of solid body butter base yesterday so it can sit for a few weeks before I pour the stuff into its molds / containers. Soap / not soap....the lines get blurry from day to day.... o_O

Yeah....sleep might be a good thing 😁

I got them from a restaurant supply store. There may be one near you, but if not, here is where I ordered mine. I like that I can pick up just one rack and move it to another room if needed without having to move the individual bars. Mind you, I do have to straighten them out again when the rack is put in a new location. The regular Lasko fan fits right on top.

Thank you so much ❤️ I am comparing prices with local stores here, as well as with the Amazon link provided by @Servant4Christ and the link you provided. I am quickly running out of curing space on my shelves & may have to rig up something like this to suffice while I wait for my workshop space to manifest itself into reality 😁

Wow, lookitchoo plow through that bucket list! That's delight-ful! Are you willing to share your recipe?

I NEED some of these racks! Where specifically did you get yours if you don't mind sharing? Bread delivery trucks used to have something like these, but good luck getting any store to share them now

Fans are a beautiful thing, gotta say. And that looks like the size I would like to have. It would replace the several smaller ones I currently have.
I have used mine for years....I found them on Marketplace on Facebook. I am also going to unload them because I have since remodeled my space to allow for more drying spaces.

I had to say "Lookitchoo"out loud to really understand that. Totally going to use that now.
My junior high choir director told us that it is common to pronounce the word "you" as "choo" and always called us out when we were singing the word "you." She said "It sounds like you're sneezing!" Ever since then -- and I'm old -- I hear singers sing "choo" all the time and it totally gets under my skin. Especially pop singers.

Side note to my side note. When my now elderly choir director was dying, her children reached out to former students asking for emails and notes that they could read to her. I was glad to share my gratitude and it inspired me to reach out to other former teachers.

Masters in Applied Linguistics here...
I could go into a detailed explanation about this but it would be a bit long, and possibly boring for people more interested in soap than the way languages work. In short - it's the combination of the 't' and 'y' than makes the 'ch' sound. Lots of other interesting things happen when certain consonants or vowels blend into new sounds. If anyone is interested I could start a new thread about it. Oh sorry, what's that? You've nodded off already....?

I had so much speech therapy as a child to pronounce read and spell letter blends correctly. I blame this for enunciating letter blends correctly.

You wouldn’t think this would cause so much confusion, but I get blank looks for just enunciating letters correctly.

For example, asking for water pronounced with a tt instead of “wadder” will get blank looks and “whad ya say honey”s from waitresses and waiters.

I’ve became kind of paranoid about it and have to frequently remind myself to mispronounce my blends in order to speak American English correctly.

Or in other words I’ll join you on the other thread, lol

I have had many arguments with my sister, who accuses me of over-articulation when I talk to her. We finally figured out she has misphonia, and certain sounds actually trigger emotional reactions or cause her physical pain. I think my crisp articulation grew out of singing. Look at any sheet of music, and we see it is broken up into syllables, clear and easy to understand. Singing with my daughter since she was an infant is why her speech is crystal, clear, despite having autism and mental retardation. 🎵🎵🎵 🙂

Correctly in that region perhaps .. that's not how those are pronounced here in the intermountain west or pacific coast. And probably differently in the northeast.

Loads of fun regional dialects in the US & Canada.

OMG, my dear Kiwi Friend, the onion of You keeps peeling and peeling. Maker of gore-juss soaps and rocks and Masters in Applied Wha' Now?! I'm fascinated by languages and linguistics. If I haven't shared before, Zing Junior went to college in Birmingham, Alabama, U.S.A. and we enjoyed our visits there. People were speaking "English" and I was soo embarrassed to ask them to repeat themselves. A cashier asked for a price that was twenty syllables long. In my world, $2.10 is TWO syllables -- two ten. I don't even know how to type it but it was twenty syllables long!

I'm mostly monolingual English speaking and English is hard. My father, a retired educator, continues to correct me on lay/lie, sit/set, etc. I gave him a coffee mug that says "I'm silently judging you on your grammar." Except he's not so silent on the judging -- and the correcting....
Where's that thread again??

Amazon seems to believe people are drunk enough to pay over $100 for these things 🤣 I mean, really, how drunk can somebody get o_O 🍺

Found a total of 1 in stock at a more local supplier online....a total of ONE! But the price was actually reasonable. $30 I believe? I need to get in touch with them via email / phone ASAP.

Yes, I will need to source some of these for sure. I am waiting to unmold some cavity molds & am scrambling to clear shelf space for this batch, as well as the next.
