What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm always impatient trying to wait to bevel and stamp my new soap. I beveled the blackberry Magnolia but didn't stamp. It's still pretty soft and I would squash it. Trying to decide on 2 or 3 more scents to make for upcoming April events. I also played with floral wax melts today. Something out of my norm.

I’m going to try this tomorrow…
Ok - @Mobjack Bay i will never use ultramarines any other way. Why did I think mixing them with oils didn’t work? This was SO MUCH better. The palette knife and oil method works really well - the ultramarines were well dispersed with no clumping.
As an added tip I premixed the oil and ultramarine, put in in a small SS prep cup, then added a small amount of soap batter and blended it well. Then added that back into the batter. Amazing. 🤩

I got my new molds and covers😍View attachment 81015

Edit: forgot the picture🤦🏿‍♂️
Woah those look nice! Where are they from?

It's been hard to keep up with this thread and to post. For some reason, I've been distracted lately. But I love this Forum, it brings balance and good souls and humor and good advice to my life, which I sorely need now. Tusen takk.

So I've started using my Hello Yellow soap that ahem, I'm sure you all remember was THIRD PLACE WINNER in the November challenge, https://www.soapmakingforum.com/thr...-hello-yellow-entry-thread.94185/post-1021451 . I'm enjoying the scent, eucalyptus, fir needle, peppermint, cedarwood, rosemary essential oils.

I cut my challenge soap last night and, while it's a viable soap, it certainly isn't entry worthy.
You have lots of opportunity to try again, but if you don’t make another scrubby soap, put the one in that you think isn’t challenge worthy to help everyone else look really good! Please? ☺️

@Vicki C, I think this is the link for @justsomeguy’s soap mold. The sizes on the website are 7” wide, but other options are in the works and explained further down the page. I have a couple custom craft molds and love them!

Actually, if you click on the drop down box, there are some additional sizes available - 12" l, 16" l, 18" l, in case someone's looking for a new mold. They look pricey, but I guess everything is.

I promise that if I don't have time to make another one, I'll post this one. It's still good soap (I've even tested already and really like it); it just isn't very pretty.

I bought their Nara soap mold. Oh my, it is really nice! If you have the money they are the way to go for sure, but I do think I will try to make them myself next time. But their stuff is so beautiful as well as extremely well made.

Stamped my bars today and they held up nicely. I've been typing up recipes and formulations on computer for 2 hours. I swear my chicken scratch will get the best of me. Luckily my daughter interrupted me wanting a crocheted jellyfish of all things. So I've got a jellyfish body with 2 tentacles done after a short bit that I'll finish up in the morning. The things this chick thinks up lol.

I finally made an actual beach soap, with a sandy layer and shells on top. I had my fingers crossed on this one because my son called right as I was making the first layer. We kept talking because he called during a window of opportunity (the Alligator Alley drive from Naples to Plantation in FL) and I didn’t want to miss the chance for a good long chat. The middle blue layer could’ve been a little lighter, but overall I am super happy with the color of the new blue ultramarine I bought from BrambleBerry, plus it’s much easier to mix with oil compared with the last batch of UB I had from an Amazon supplier. (Edited to add: I also used a tiny bit of Hydrated Chrome Green in the middle blue layer). The only thing I missed was adding FO to one of the blue layers. Whew! Rough cut:

ETA: here are the two colorants in case anyone is not familiar with them

I was inspired by @Mobjack Bay and her awesome beach soap! I needed to make soap for a friend that orders a full loaf using NS 8th and Ocean. Not happy the usage rate dropped for future batches for this scent. I didn’t do a complete dup, more of Mobjack’ish…. I used BB Gold Shimmer for the sandy layer, and BB Mermaid blue for the middle and BB Caribbean blue for the top layer. Here’s the rough cut….
