This is something I planned on doing this week. I like the idea of narrow fridge containers. Right now, I have my FO's in Dollar Store trays and it's difficult find what I want. I'll be looking into something different.
Here’s my setup. Liking it so far. The narrow containers (4”) are good for fragrances & essential oils as they are less tippy. The wider ones (8”) are good for micas and other dryer lighter things. These shelves are the “Besta” shelves from ikea, 14” deep.

Thank you for posting the pic!

I made charcoal soap with some manuka hydrosol I was given. I used only EOs: Lavender, Patchouli, Niaouli and Lemongrass. I wanted it to smell kind of 'astringent' to go with the charcoal/detox theme. Hubby walks in and says, "yuk, it smell like chemicals in here!" I said no it doesn't, it's all essential oils. This is the same husband that, when I ask him to smell any soap I make, always says "it smells like soap".

That is a great setup. Love the refrigerator shelves and IKEA shelves. I am still using old shipping boxes for my EO and FO’s. Yesterday I actually put all the duplicates together so I will use the oldest next time I use a particular EO or FO. I’m embarrassed to admit how much of my stuff has duplicates. 😳

I am in awe of you guys with your studio/workspace setups! It almost looks pharmaceutical ~ all the jars lined up so nicely!
It looks awesome!

Sounds like my husband ~ it's either smells like soap or chemicals! He doesn't distinguish between scents very well 🤔 🤷🏼‍♀️ 😆

It feels good to be able to say that I made soap today! One batch down and at least one more to go. This morning, I used a slow moving recipe with an FO that, apparently, moves fast. It also discolours (10% vanilla), so I had to keep both in mind. I used a recipe that has lard and tallow (my notes say it's great for swirling because it's a slow mover) and only scented the uncoloured part. The FO is Rose Quartz (Village Soap & Candle) so I topped the soap with small polished Rose Quartz crystals and a bit of very dramatic skin safe glitter. It will be interesting to see how the colour morphs.

Now, on to a batch of Gardener's Hand soap.

That is really, really pretty, what does it look like on the inside? It will be really cool to see how the color changes, I like doing that w/high vanilla soaps, it is like a story unfolding.
I did a drop swirl with the pink. We shall see how it turns out. I'm kind of excited to see how it changes, tbh.

Oh how pretty Misscheif! I've used a Rose Quartz FO before and it was a divine scent but talk about ricing and acceleration! Acceleration I can deal with, but ricing, no way.

I was prepared for anything. I have to say that it went quite well, all in all. I did a lot of reading and note taking before even starting because I figured it might be a trouble maker.

I am just weeks short of 9 years making soap and for the first ever I left out a fat. Ugh! It was 28% of the recipe, but fortunately a small batch. I will decide what to do about it later. I hate rebatching so much 😭
Wait! Are you saying... the soaper of gorgeous woodgrains and even beveling... is... .... human?!!

How did you get it so beautifully black? Do you add black oxide to your charcoal? I bought charcoal but have not used it. I want to make a black and white soap so badly, but am worried the black won’t be black enough.
I googled how much charcoal to use, and it said to use one tablespoon PPO to get it very black like that. Charcoal in Soap: Usage Rates, Photos & Tips
Beware it will have grey lather.

Thanks! I’ve heard mixing black oxide with charcoal will give you an even richer black so I’ll try 1 tbsp PPO and add some black oxide to it. I want to make it this weekend. Do you mix the charcoal with oils before coloring the batter or do you just dump it in the batter and stick blend?
