Peppermint and benzoin resinoid.
Used Benzoin in a test batch of balm but couldn't get the benzoin to blend in with the warm oil. Any tips on how to blend it so there aren't tiny blobs of brown. It smells so fantastic I don't want to have to put it aside.

Sorry, man, can't help you on that. I love benzoin in soap and did try it in a lotion bar batch once but got the same blobs that you did. So now I'm back to sticking with soap.

Here's a couple of more good ones:

Spearmilyptus from eocalc

Peppermint / litsea cubeba / lemon / bergamot.
Black pepper / patchouli / litsea cubeba / lime. I use these in hot process recipes so the lemon and lime stick.

Benzoin is highly dissolvable in ethanol (180 proof) according to Internet sources. Here’s good info from New Directions Aromatics.

I’m going to have to plan a benzoin blend for soap. Does it discolor the soap like vanilla does? I seem to recall that, like lemongrass, it can be a skin sensitizer, so I’ll have to check on that. Hmm, benzoin and lemongrass? Could be interesting. Anyone tried it?
