I mad ethics turmeric and oatmeal soap. I let it stay in the mold for 2 days and when I took it out this is what it looked like. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you and have a blessed day!

Do you have a link to the recipe? I've not heard of it.
Off the bat, it almost looks like partial gel but the pattern is unusual.
Is the tumeric and oatmeal in the whole soap or did you separate out a portion for the turmeric?

Well, I mixed the turmeric in a bit to late I know that. But tried my best to blend in. This one gave me a bad vibe. Recipe was i hate to say destroyed by some lye spilling on it. Yes I agree what you said about the partial gel. I noticed that once it started hardening on the top and the sides but the middle was where I could see nothing but gel. I m sorry I can't provide the ingredients, I will make sure I have it next time.

I think the unusual pattern maybe be the ungelled soap that was dragged down with the cut Making it appear that that part didn’t gel. May have been cut too soft. Does look like partial gel.

I agree, I used that same batch and split it up and made two different soaps. The other ones are fine. Here is a picture of that one. At least to my knowledge. We will see in 3 weeks.

Have to get what out in 30 minutes and why? I'm not understanding. Welcome to the forum, be sure to go to the introduction forum and tell us about yourself.

So, is this a wasted batch. I really do not want to waste it, but if it is harmful to anyone , I would just try again. Oh to answer the question about the formula, yes I did use the soap calc for the formula. However not used to it and did not save. Had to many things going wrong that day. But not letting it discourage me, from making soap. Once the lye hit the paper , the printed copy i had, i had to through away. Thank you all for you information.

A partial gel doesn't mean a wasted batch. It's still good soap, even if it doesn't look the way you wanted. And if the partial gel is really bothering you, you could try to force the rest of the gel. If you are really concerned about it being harmful, do a zap test. If it doesn't zap, then your soap is OK. We all have off days ;)

Your soap should be fine. Just be sure to zap test it. If no zap let it cure. Partial gel is just cosmetic.

I am pretty new to soap making and I made a soap that ended up really unattractive, I don't like the idea of waste and I also don't super love how regular rebatch looks but I am trying a whipped rebatch method. I like the idea of zero waste, so I'm trying not to toss anything. Maybe if you really don't like how it looks you could find a way to still use it either as a rebatch or as an imbed in another soap?

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate it. Using it as and embed to another soap sounds great. Thank you. As you say, I will let it cure for the next 4 weeks, and try my best not to look at it. So far the color is changing and it is looking better than it was in the beginning. I want to learn as I much can from all of you, and I think i found the right place to do that. Thank you!
