What % do you keep for white with ombre pour?

I've watched many videos but I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say exactly what % of their batch they set aside for the white. I'm ready to try my first ombre pour and I just want to make sure I get it right. How do you handle your ombre? TIA for any advice.

One person split their batter 40% white and 60% color. Is there anyway you could just color half your batter and then add whatever color you need to the rest of the batter as you go?
