So if I happend to mess up and make a bad batch of lye-heavy soap, what would I do with the stuff? Hopefully that would never happen, but better to be safe than sorry

My lastbatch was lye heavy for laundry soap. Unless purpose specific ie cleaning laundry. It should be tossed.

used for playing evil tricks on mean people. Just kidding! Definitely toss it. :)

Is it ok to just throw it in the trash? Do I need to first nutralize it with vinegar or something?
(CSS that was SO not funny! :D :) 8) )

I would do what artisan suggested.....I'd use it to wash clothes, mop the floor and stuff like that. The extra lye in there just bucks up the cleaning, and it's very dilute when used in solution.

Wouldn't you have to be really careful not to touch it and stuff? I thought that it could like errode the suffaces it touches...I guess maybe that was just pure sodium hydroxide. :)

Well....if you leave it undiluted, unwiped, yes it could damage, but so can plain old water if you don't use care.

Just put on some gloves like you would with household cleaner.....dilute it in some warm water, and you should be fine! :)

Thanks for the encouragment!
That was yet another thing I wondered about...it's SAFE to put possibly caustic soap on your tongue?
