Where should I start? And this is just over the past few days... (and all with my basic formulas)

Ran out of olive oil so bought an off brand at the grocery store. 4 batches later I realize it must be erated because they never hardened. Trash.

Olive oil-free recipe. 2 batches set to go. Add FO to oils, add lye mixture. My SB isn't working. Wait, it's the outlet. The only one in the kitchen/ Fine, mix by hand. Pour. Watch it rice in the mold. 2 batches of oily, riced, lye heavy soap-ish stuff. Trash.

Got new olive oil. Made up a batch of my Violet Lime - a lovely purple color. Came out magenta. Sigh. Not trash, but not saleable.

Mixed up 4 sets of lye solution for my next round of soaps, and one set of oils for my Limoncello. Went to bed.

Tonight - don't know for which recipe I made up the lye solutions, so don't know the strength. No problem, I weighed them The amounts came half way between the two possibilities. Cleaned drains. Lye wasted.

Made up fresh lye solution for the Limoncello. Added the TD to the swirl portion - thickening too fast (outlet is magically working today). Quickly add a dash of my yellow color. Which is actually my ORANGE color. So now I have orange lemon-scented soap. Well, mix in the too thick swirl portion and SB it till a smooth mango color. Fortunately my kids don't know the difference - they think it's Creme-sicle cuz that's what I told them. Not a total loss - add it to the pile for Christmas gifts of the kids schoolmates/teachers. But still, a waste of money.

I don't want to calculate the losses I'm taking this week. It'd make me cry.

And my computer is messed up so I cannot get on Facebook to whine about it.

And I'm out of wine.

Everything eventually balances out eventually, you have some really good times coming... :)

Hope it all gets better soon :)

poor thing! your week sounds awful. hopefully that is the end of your soap dramas and you will get back to your regularly happy soaping! ((hugs))

I'm sorry, sounds like a really frustrating week! I have to say the hardest part would be running out of wine, wine fixes everything. :)

Ya gotta laugh (or else you cry). What a poxy week you've had ... and no whine ... and no wine.

It'll get better now.

Just think...all your disappointing batches are out of the way for a loooog time! Wishing you good soaping mojo, Carebear! :)

Jude

So, I put it behind me and mixed up a batch of oil and lye. All set to do my oakmoss patchouli men's soap in my fabulous 75% CO/25% palm oil (marvelous body bar, not my fave for faces).

And lost track and put my limoncello scent and swirl in it. That's one of my feminine bars and should have had a different formula.

I need a few days off, methinks.

I think maybe you do need a day off. :D Sorry you're having so much troubles. There are A LOT of soap gremlins! They visited me today too.

I know you have a busy life, but take some 'me' time Carebear - do whatever you find is either fun or relaxing and just walk away from the soap pot for a while....you have already said you need to, so do that and come back refreshed and alert. It sounds like your mind is not on soaping atm - do you need to clear your plate of anything else? Maybe focus on that for now and you can then collect your thoughts.

btw - feel free to totally disregard any of the above

Oh, and Deda - can I have a glass too? I have run out of red!

Tanya :)

Turn off the computer, and the TV if you have too (I see your at the computer alot), give your mind a techno free rest, making soap is an ancient craft.

So sorry Carebear! I had to leave the soap alone last week myself-2 ruined batches (rebatching  ) and 1 iffy one. May try again today. Good luck to you!

I hate to be a worry wart...but as someone who's lost her home to fire once before, that electrical outlet would be worrying me like crazy.

do you know an electician who can at least take a quick looksie?
