I love the sugar scrub. At the suggestion of several others I make mine with 4 times the recommended sugar. It’s perfect.
Let us know what you think!
I wasn’t aware of the recommendation to use 4x the sugar - I typically use 1.5 to 2x the amount of sugar, and it is soooo thick.

However much is used, the recipe is just wonderful!

Not B&B but I did successfully make toilet tabs (fizzies for cleaning your toilet). We have old plumbing and hard water so these have been an awesome addition to my deep cleaning attempts.

On B&B side... I've been all over the place. Trying to restock after almost completely selling out before Christmas. Also trying to clean out unused supplies, or use up items that I bought with specific plans. Current projects are still pretty much the same... Tweaking the body wash recipe, tweaking the conditioner bar recipe, getting bath bombs figured out... added bubble bars back into my list of things to do, and once I have the conditioner bar tweaked I will be figuring out how to make the shampoo & conditioner bar sample set that I envision. (Super vague... but too many thoughts to put into words at the moment). Making stuff to put into a local boutique... for a part-time gig I'm putting in a lot of hours lately, lol.

Today I'm posting my breast cancer awareness soap on my website. I only have 5, because I had a big crack for some reason. Oh well!

I’m doing some experiments with massage oil today. Want to test different oils and additives to compare skinfeel.

Separate question: is there a particular space in this forum for skincare formulation or is that out of scope for the soapmaking forum? Completely understand if it is :)

Come on over to the Bath & Body forum. :)

Silly question sorry 😅 do you mean the bath & body forum that this thread is in or is there an entirely different website that is the bath & body forum?
LOL... just noticed that you posted in the B & B forum. Obviously, the coffee hadn't kicked in yet. You should be able to ask your question anywhere in the B & B forum; create a new thread and others will chime in. D'oh!

Mine comes out really thick and very scrubby. I love it.
Oh wow, I was thinking about this and how to make it more scrubby. Anyone add something like jojoba beads to help with that? What scents are being used? How is everyone getting it into jars? I piped it but yikes is that a killer…

I did 2x recommended sugar and it came out plenty scrubby for me! Jojoba beads would also work great I’m sure.

I used Wild Rose FO from WSP and that worked great! I don’t love sweet scents, so the rose felt very appropriate to the product without being too sweet. I was hoping for a pink and gold swirl but my sakura mica went to more of a lavendar tone and my mixed king tut + sunshine sparkles micas went sandy brown :( it wasn’t hideous but both colors were certainly unexpected since all those micas were very true to color in CP soap.

I piped two of the jars and scooped the last jar and a half. Piping is a pain in the you know what but it did look very attractive. I ordered larger piping tips to see if that would help make piping feel less onerous. I will report back how that goes.

A while ago, a friend sent me a link to Shark Sauce, a niacinamide + NAG serum that’s no longer available to buy but the creator made the recipe publicly available. Well, I finally felt confident enough in my formulation abilities to take a whack at it. And with a list of ingredients and kinda vague instructions I seem to have made it! Its within the ph bounds it should be, patch test on my arm went fine, I put it on my face with no issues. Assuming all continues to go well, I have three friends who have very politely asked for some when I’m ready to make a bigger batch. And I’m starting to replace much of my purchased skin and haircare with my own homemade formulations!

Love it! I make it for my granddaughter who has pretty bad acne. She swears by it. Now, if only I could get her to get in touch..... (a whole 'nother story).

Back in the summer, I visited some family, and one guy gave me a bottle of of a foaming, exfoliating, powdery/grainy face cleansing substance that was from a company he used to work for. A couple weekends ago, I finally wrote down all of the ingredients in that product…all 32 of them, most of which look decent but still….anyway, many of them were things I didn’t have. Long story short, some googling and $15 got me to a recipe that - with some tweaks to accommodate what I had on hand - I think might be exactly what I was looking for! Exfoliation on this old face but without being too harsh. Yay! 🎉

I have used lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus and orange. All separate batches. Really great feedback from my friends who got the lavender, it gives me a headache so I don’t use it. I love, love, love the peppermint and eucalyptus and have actually been scooping a bit of each for my face scrub. Invigorating. 🙃

I have only used sugar, but at 4x the recommended amount and It’s pretty scrubby. I piped it in jars with a really big piping thingy (no idea what those little guys are called). It didn’t create a pretty design but it did put it in the jar. 😉

Heading off to research shark sauce….

Today I made a test batch of shower steamers with menthol and an EO blend that is a dupe of something I used in Germany. When one gets a cold in Germany you head down to the pharmacy where they will recommend herbal products based on your symptoms. This is how I was introduced to Erkaltungs Bad, which translates to cold bath. It’s a blend of eucalyptus, pine needle, thyme, rosemary and camphor EO’s. I thought this would be a really great sinus treatment with added menthol. The pucks are drying/hardening and I am looking forward to trying one out. I only used a total of 2% of the EO blend and 2% menthol and it’s pretty strong.
