I know a lot of soap makers put videos on YouTube - what kind of video cameras are good to use?

I use the video on my Cannon G12. Most video settings on a regular camera are good enough. Invest in a tripod...I hate shaky videos...lol.

Thanks Amanda!

I wish dslr's came with video but I'm stuck with a good camera that can't do video (canon rebel xsi). I'll need to get a separate video camera, but if camera video is good enough, it shouldn't be too hard to find a decent video camera :)

Video is a fantastic marketing tool and very "hot" with the search engines too. (YouTube itself is like a search engine.)

You can buy a Flip HD video camera for $100-$200, depending where you buy it from (I got mine at Costco for $100). I used to do short video clips for my online consulting biz and the Flip worked great. Excellent definition and all that. And I got a mini tripod for $10 which I just set up on books or whatever.

The real trick is getting the lighting just right, and you generally want direct sunlight on the "subject" (you, the soap, or whatever the focus of the video is).

Hope that helps!

That does help! I saw those at Costco and wondered if they were any good. I know what I'm putting on my wishlist this year lol
