I just wanted to share this about using the silicone baking pans as soap molds...

I have tried it, they are great, the soap pops right out...

HOWEVER..

The color in them tends to bleed into your soap at times. I made bee soap into a red one and had reddish orange bottoms on all of my bars...looked terrible. I gave the pan one more try on a whipped soap, and it did it again. I will not use them again, unfortunately.

Anyone else have this problem???

I just have blue silicone and I haven't had any color bleeding . I wonder if it has something to do with the color of the silicone or the brand . Mine are wal mart cheapies . I know others have had the bleeding happen .

I have used red, blue, and orange silicone molds and thankfully, no color bleeding.

My first two batches of soap I used a red silicone brownie pan from Target and it discolored my soap. I was so disappointed. A couple of years later I'm only using Wilton brand silicone and not having any troubles now. (It could have been the fact that they were my first two batches and I screwed something up!)

I'm using the ones from target. I haven't tried the red loaf one but I have used the black loaf and the black muffin (i think that's what it is, with 6 cavities) one without any bleeding. I'll have to use the red one and see.

Yesterday, I used the pink ice cube tray. I can't wait to see how that turned out.

I wish I had my pans here with me, but yes - some brands of red bleeds and others don't. I haven't had the blue bleed on me, though.

Also, I've read that after a few uses the bleeding stops, but I've not wanted to test and see - one orange-tinted batch was enough!

Pink ice cube tray? Is this a silicone one? I've been looking all over for silicone ice cube trays and cannot find any!

I know Ikea had silicone ice cube trays with different shapes - star, heart, stuff like that. I don't get there often so don't know if they still do.

I have heard of people using the Glad press and seal to line molds with good results . That might stop the bleeding ?
