LOL
Okay, so, this so did NOT turn out like I wanted, but the end pic doesn't look too bad... We'll see what it looks like after I cut it tomorrow afternoon, or if it completely separates or something.
Anyway, I wanted to start coloring the portions of it as soon as it got emulsified. never ever in my life except once when I had a soap sieze on me has a soap gotten so thick so fast. I did absolutely nothing different - except, I added the scent to the oils instead of at emuslification. I figured that would be better this time. Apparently not.
Anyway, I was determined, but instead of 14 "layers" or "columns" I only have 7, and at first looked like a muddled mess..

Then I decided that I should at least try to "column" it or swirl or something - it actually doesn't look too bad like this.. But like I said, we'll see what it looks like tomorrow night when I cut it. It's under a ton of blankets to go through gel and I refuse to peek until tomorrow.

Oh and it's okay if you hate it. I'm not so in love with it myself - but it smells good! LOL
Oh and colors from bottom to top - Even though there is no way you can tell that! LOL
Purple
Green
Blue
Magenta
Yellow
Orange
Pink

The first two piccies look like some kind of pudding, but the the third piccie looks absolutely great and I bet this turns out really lovely.Kudos to you jc for being so adventurous...much braver than I :D ~ I can't wait to see them cut, I bet they smell divine!

I personally love it (it really did turn out excellent), but I know what you mean. It got too thick by the end of layering that it wouldn't pour and blend right. Even starting at just emulsified, I have trouble doing fancy stuff before it gets too thick. I can't wait to see it cut!!

You live and learn ... its what soaping is about.... I bet you can't wait to do it again to get it perfect!!
I was suprised at how you saved it. It does look like a big flower. You'll have to cut it and share the cut pics with us too.
Good on you for giving it a go... which is more than I can say. I just look from a distance with admiration when it comes to column swirls.

No it was too thick before I even started pouring the first column unfortunately... I mean it didn't quite act like a sieze, but it got way thick almost immediately after adding the lye with the oils.
:(
We'll see how it looks after being cut.

Eh, I may try it again I may not. If I do it may be a while.
What I really want to do is try another one like this -

that I did a few years ago, only this time with shamrocks instead of hearts.
:)

I will def post pics when I get it cut. :)

It looks like a large chrysanthemum. I think it's pretty. It may not be what you envisioned but I'm sure it will still be beautiful.
Thanks Hazel! Yeah, I guess it does look like a flower.

I'm actually pretty anxious to see what it will look like unmolded and cut. :)

I always go for the gusto! LOL
It was fun, and I'm not terribly upset about it, I just hope it doesnt' separate. I'm more concerned about that than anything, but I think it should be fine.
I'll find out tomorrow. :)

I can't wait to see this soap cut! I bet it's spectacular. :)

Would you share where you purchased your column from please? I am having trouble finding one here in Oz.

My soap is forever going thick like that, worse with some FOs. I hope you're happy with your pattern. Can't wait to see it cut.

I'm getting ready to go uncover it and see it now. Kind of nervous... LOL
I originally got all of my tube molds from this place -
http://www.goplanetearth.com/interior-molds.html
but it looks like they don't have it anymore. I tried doing a search for it and i couldn't find one in my google search, but maybe try BCN? I know they have the same heart tube mold made out of the same stuff, maybe they have the star one? Here let me check.. They do have it -

I think they may ship out of country too, but I'm not sure. You could always call and ask. Doneen and Rich are super great peeps. :)

Thanks for showing these pics!

I think you're amazing, as I'm sure if my soap had thickened, I'd had aborted that plan to something way more simple.

Love the final pic!

I almost did, but I figured the worst that could happen is it would be a muddy brown blob of a mess, and since everything I'm doing right now is just for me as experimentation, I decided to keep going. I'm glad I did. I really like the way they turned out.

They did get a little bit of ash on the tops, but nothing severe. When I clean them up, bevel them and put them on the curing rack, I may do a final pic of them. :)
