Hi iv been reading that silk is nice in soap so would like to give it a go, but iam a bit confused which to get ive looked on ebay at tussah silk and they have noil or top some looks white and some looks beige. Which one should i get for using in my soap. :?

Also can i use it in cp and hp soap.

Thanks.

i use tussah silk now too. I have to say that I think it's mostly a nice selling point. I haven't noticed any difference in the soap itself and the amount I use is quite small, too, so I'd be very surprised if it did change the soap qualities. Anyhow, it is neat, so enjoy and let us know if you notice a difference!

Thanks but out of stock in both those places. Also iam in the uk so postage may be expensive.

Which type of silk do i use th Tussah noil or top, white or cream coloured or does it not matter. :)

A lady on another forum says she buys silk garments at the thrift store and uses a little snip of the material from these in the lye water. She claims it dissolves.
The raw silk fibers I have are an off white color, but I can't see as it would matter white or brown. If the price is the same, I would probably go for the white.

Keep your eyes open and check the internet for a local sheep and wool, or fiber fair. They almost always have vendors that are selling silk for spinners. It is usually sold by the ounce, and an ounce of silk fiber is a lot!

I use a blouse I bought at a charity shop. It's a creamy colour. I just snip about 1" x 1/2", then separate the threads, and dissolve it in the lye. I've only used it twice, but I found the soap quite smooth and slippery to use. It kept shooting out of my hand in the shower! It did have a beautiful feel to it, though.

Iam looking on ebay now but dont know what to get noil or top does it make any difference. :?

Tussah noil is £7.50 for 200g or Tussah top is £5.65 for 100g on ebay, but i dont want to get the cheapest if its not as good. :?
