IMO, if they are sturdy enough to be used more than once, then that counts as eco friendly to me. Some of our Christmas gift bags have appeared at family celebrations in my family for 10+ years.

They should last a time or two though they are fairly small. They had other designs as well. I just bought them to package some goodies for my grandkids and ship them out.
