Don't get annoyed with me, please!

My scale weighs ounces as pounds:eek:unces:fraction of an ounce or grams, which I much prefer!

So, if I have a recipe that calls for 3.1 ounces of lye, how much is that in a fraction? I'm glad the rest of the ingredients are in whole or half ounces, but I know I'll have to figure this all out eventually.

Maybe I should convert my recipes to grams to make it easier on myself? At least percentages are much easier to calculate in grams.

Also,

I have been playing with soapcalc, but I'm still not clear on how it works. Is it supposed to calculate the lye in ounces or grams for you when you put in your oil quantities?

Thanks so much everyone!

LOL I had a time just realizing how to see the results on soapcalc also.. I am new to this as well.... It's actually very simple after you type in all your specifics and the oils and amounts...scroll down and press the button that says CACULATE, then you click the button right underneath it that says VIEW OR PRINT RECIPE. Then you will get a pop up with your exact calculation on it.... Good Luck

OH! That makes sense. Thank you!

not sure if this was already mentioned, but soapcalc gives you oz and grams. use grams, it's more accurate. enjoy.
