I just got some titanium dioxide and it is a powder. So, how do I mix this in my soap batter? Do I mix it with water, or a little of the soap? Also, I,ve read that too much and it will make soap chalky.

I have added 1 tsp ppo of oils directly to the oil before the lye. I make sure it is stirred in well. Some people do take it and mix it with a little oil before mixing it with all of the oil.

Some TD is oil soluble and some is water soluble . I have the water kind so I mix it super well, otherwise you can get white dots in your soap. Then I add some lightly traced soap and stick blend it.Then add it to the soap pot or whatever I am whitening.

I have the water soluble kind and I mix it right into my lye water. Haven't had any issues with it speckling this way. I used to use the oil soluble kind and it was a PITA to get mixed in well enough!

You can put it in a little baggie, add your water/or oil and then you can smash it smooth!
