I usually mix TD in 1part TD to 2 parts distilled water. N then mix it.. Hope tats the correct way of mixing..
I guess the gelling made the difference.. I poured n cut both at the same time

Was the water that you mixed the TD with part of the amount of water from the recipe?
I’d use less water in the recipe and see how it goes.
I use 31-33% lye concentration.
Different soap calcs vary slightly but it’s around that.

TD has a very small particle size - so it uses (bonds to) water. If I do not account for this I will raise the water content in my soap and thereby speed trace.

Activated charcoal - same thing. The black and white challenge was a very good learning experience for me.

I would start with a low water recipe and use a small amount of water ( but the same measured amount) to add the charcoal and TD to the splits. A small amount of each colorant goes quite a ways in my short experience. YMMV

Thanks all.
I didn't really calculate the amount of water added to td or charcoal to mix.

I saw many videos on YouTube n people were just mixing the diluted colourants without reducing water ( no one explained that it should be done). I thought it was okay to just dilute n mix..
But I actually made a very small batch. May be 6 , 1"bars n mixed with 1/4tsp of activated charcoal. Pre mixed with 1tsp water..

I was wondering if the water amount really made a difference. ??

I'll definitely try using less water n see how it goes ..
