Not a lame question. Do you have a Wal-Mart near you? I get mine there. It's near the aluminum foil and I think made by the same company.

Wax and parchment stick. Walmart is the only place I can find it. Sometimes at Albertsons. It's usually on the bottom and it's in a much bigger box than the regular wax paper.

I couldn't find it in any grocery store or Walmart in my community either. One of the local grocery wholesaler stocks it (and loose sheet butcher paper) with the tin foil and plastic wrap.

This is really funny because I was just telling my husband like a week ago that freezer paper is getting hard to find. Even at our WalMart - which is the only place I've found it lately. Most of the time they're out. Go figure.

Regular wax paper will sub but won't hold up as well. Maybe a double layer? I take it you're going to line a mold??

I looked for a solid month at Walmart for freezer paper. I finally found it--in the sporting goods dept, where they have all the camping supplies. I just figured it would be where the plastic wrap and foil was--it wasn't. Walmart messes with me when they move stuff.

I've used parchment successfully. I haven't had any problems with sticking. In fact, I don't like using it because I can't get the tape to stick to the paper when I try to tape it to the mold. Freezer paper is much easier to work with.

Walmart is two cities and a bridge (+$5 toll) away. I'll have to wait a while because of the way gas prices are around here. I wonder if plastic wrap will suffice. Yup, it's to line a mold.

I could just go in the grocery store and ask at the butcher counter if they could give me a couple of sheets. I've asked them for other things (pails to make upside down planters, day old bread or vegies for my chickens, etc...) The answer is generally no.

Take them a bar or two of soap and make a trade. It's amazing how people open up when you're willing to share with them.

You are so right--I love the barter system! You can line molds with contac paper--the vinyl sticky stuff. It works pretty good and lasts through several soaping sessions.

Believe it or not, the butcher gave me what was left on the roll, almost half a roll!

I'll be in soap heaven tomorrow. My first batch is fine, but the color isn't so pretty and I used a mold that the soap stuck to so I'm going to try this recipe again (without the cinnamon *grin*).

I usually use parchment paper, but I tried wax paper on my most recent batch. Big mistake! I had to freeze it and hit it on the bottom of the mold to get it out... I had already tried sliding a knife around the edge, so my sides were a bit rough looking and I had to trim them off. I estimate I lost about a bar's worth of soap

We dont have freezer paper here. I use baking paper - works fantastic - dont know if its the same thing or if you can buy it where you are???

use contact paper or shelf liner, it works great and you can wash it and use it again!

I'm having a hard time visualizing it. I can only see an elaborate hodgepodge of post-it notes pieced together!

I just posted a pic of my shelf liner in the mold hope that helps, ive been doing it this way for 3 yrs, love it. A roll only cost a few $ and makes many logs of soap!
