Think I just set a record for rapid trace

Owl soap! It's beautiful! I want to get it for everyone in my guild. (we are owls; long story). It was def the clove. My favorite soap growing up was a cool red glycerin that smelled like spiced rose. I replicated it in MP no problem but I want to make it for Valentine's Day in CP. That's right--a floral and a spice. I expect soap on a stick no matter how cool I pour, but we shall see.

Grumpy, if I can ever duplicate it, I'll send you the whole batch. I. Glad you like it. If I may ask, what is your "guild?" The lesson I learned from this is to stir before you automatically stick blend. I was literally reaching for my blender "just because that's what you do" when I realized how fast it was transitioning.

That is a very cool owl! Totally worth entering! Aw crap, you made it before registration opens! You must figure out how to reproduce it, not just for grumpy owl's sake, but for butterfly swirlers everywhere (especially the competitive ones ;)

It's a Buddha owl! Its eyes are laughing, like all the buddha statues you see. That is damn good for a fastest trace ever soap- there are swirls in there! I thought you might just get plops but you actually swirled it. Impressive!

Grumpy Owl, I just managed to soap several very fast tracing scents, with time to do colors and pours etc... and I NEVER thought I would be able to. I soaped with everything at about 66 degrees and I used the accelerators in small doses, about .3-0.4 ounces for 28 ounces of oil, combined with an FO known to slow trace at 0.3 ounces or more for 28 ounces of oil. Most of the florals are strong enough to come through quite well, even in low amounts like that. I didn't stick blend much but I did stick blend then stir and I had ample time. I used Tuberose Moss, MIdnight Pomegranate and Moroccan Fig in different batches this way. All of those are quite fast but I did swirls and pours with multiple colors and had essentially no problems. Cold and small amounts are key, I think, and I hope your Valentine soap goes well!

@DW: It shames me to admit it, but I play an online game and am in the powerful and fun-loving guild known as w00ters. We like owl jokes, soap, and killing people virtually. :)

And @newbie, that is great to hear! My soap will be using English Rose and Clove Oil, both very strong-smelling so small amounts won't be a problem. I plan to hand stir the scents in and pour immediately. It's really just an experiment to test my slowly growing skills. As for the temperature, I have soaped below 76 degrees before (I posted about this) and my coconut oil turned into grits, but it stick-blended out fine and smoothly. I might look for a recipe without coconut oil because I can't avoid both the oil and the stick-blending. So confounderating!

Don't feel like the lone ranger. I haven't played any MMO's in a couple of years, but only because I can't find one I like. :) There's a few other gamers on here.

Grumps, I use both Tallow and CO in my recipe so what I did was melt my oils and add them to the liquid ones. In addition, I make my lye solution at just over 1:1 and I add the balance of the liquid (I use water) to the oils and FO's and stick blend the heck out of it (no lye water in there). I let it sit and it does get slightly slushy when cool but with the OO, Castor, and the water, it doesn't get hard or grainy. Before I put in the lye water, I stick blend the oil/water again so it's all smooth and thin. Between the CO and Tallow, my recipe is over half hard oils but this works really well.

Cool! Thank you! Gotta run--we have a battle in 4 minutes. (Sadly, I'm invested in two addictions, and only one is soaping.) Hugs.
