this is my first photo post! i finally worked up the courage to share some of my soap. now, i'm still a beginner, so i appreciate ANY feedback. i've only made a dozen or so batches of CP in the past few months. still learning and this forum has been super helpful! THANK YOU!

i made a bunch of soap this weekend. and im about to make more!

cut yesterday:
below is my Game of Thrones inspired soap called Winter Fell. scented with cedarwood, thyme, peppermint, and clove bud essential oils. this is my second attempt since the first one i used way too much TD and pigment. i held off on using as much red oxide for the red.. but its still not red enough. i liked it better before, but the suds were red. any advice?

my first attempt at a salt bar: 100% coconut oil, 20% SF, 50% salt, 1/2 water 1/2 coconut milk. tried making this as a facial bar for a friend so i added charcoal as well. fine sea salt. tea tree, lime, and clary sage EO. i gelled it in the oven and it hardened up in about 30 min.

second attempt at salt bar: 85% coconut oil, 15% shea butter, 20% SF, 80% salt, water. coarse sea salt and pink clay. some people were saying the oven process was not necessary so i left this one on the counter. it did not harden up quickly at all... took about 3 hours and it was still tacky.

here are some of my older soaps!

calendula rose soap coconut, olive, palm, shea butter with turmeric powder and calendula petals, and orange, rose geranium, lavender and patchouli EOs.

bananas soap! coconut, olive oil, palm. added honey and fresh mashed banana at trace. orange, cinnamon and vanilla EOs. smells like breakfast! tastes like breakfast? :p

solid shampoo bar. i am a psycho about solid shampoo... love them so much! made this one for my hip friends who are freaking out about tea tree and mint right now. coconut, olive, palm, shea butter, rice bran, and castor oils. peppermint and tea tree EOs. pinch of french green clay.

Making sure my salt soap gelled made it much harder, much faster as well. :) All your soaps looks fantastic, I think I like the banana one the best, followed by the first one! Nice work :)

Good to know! I think I will throw them in a warm oven from now on.

Thanks for the compliments everyone :) As you probably know soaping can be very nerve wracking when you are trying to build new recipes. And that's all I've ever been doing! ha! I spend a lot of time thinking of EO blends and what they mean / what they will provide to the soap.

Wow ... thanks for sharing your photos! Your soaps look amazing!

Love your salt soaps and your Game of Thornes inspired soaps ... in fact I love them all!

I rarely put my salt soap in the oven. I do put it individual moulds and leave it there till I'm ready to unmould, which is usually a couple of days later, so there's never a problem with 'when is it ready?"

Keep having fun and making soap ... and sharing your pics!

Wow, all of your soaps look beautiful. The banana one sounds amazing - I bet it smells great!! Great job!

Welcome & Love, love, love!

Game of Thornes is my fave, I think it's soo pretty, but they are all tempting and creative. How lucky your friends are to receive your poo bar, squee!!

Thanks for sharing and keep posting, I'm sure you've noticed, we can't get enough soapie porn around here :)

they are great !! brewsie, i'm thinking of making my own banana soap. do you have any advice for me, pls ?

oh yeah!
now, i just did this on a whim, i didn't look anything up, but with my spare knowledge of putting food in soap and my determination to make a soap called 'second breakfast' (can you tell im a lord of the rings nerd??) here's how i went about it:
-i used one banana-bread ready banana, so it was getting quite brown. this was a 16oz batch of oils.
-i mushed it up like fine fine fine baby food, it was almost soupy
-i mixed it in at trace to avoid the lye water contact making it nasty
-i did not gel because i didn't know what that extra heat would do the to naner

i hope that helps you!

I love Winterfell! Not only the soap, but the name. I love the series. I'm reading the one that recently came out now. Almost done, but not thrilled with the lack of Arya in it, I LOVE that character and they don't have enough of her in it.
