I finally did it! I finally got the hubby to make soap with me! Not just sit there and chit chat and distract me like usual, but actually make soap! Mighty fine job this man of mine did. He did it all on his own, I just instructed him how, when, and why (which I am proud of myself there that I can confidently teach another human how to make soap :) ) He chose the colors and FO which is WSP White Citrus and WSP White Tea and Ginger mixed. Cut this morning :) It was hard watching him move slow though and watching the batter get thicker and thicker...

What pretty soap, he did a great job! You are lucky, I can't soap with hubby around, the scents give him a headache. I do have to ask, what are those bumpy beer bottle? They are very cool looking.

Did he enjoy it?
You can tell him from another soaper who is not his wife (so no agenda) his soap looks pretty good.

@Obsidian Actually, they are just the tops of beer bottles that I cut off for my candles. I stacked them up waiting for inspiration to strike on what to do with them.

@eyeroll Yes, he did enjoy it!

Nice! I'm hoping that eventually my hubby will want to take a more proactive told in this soaping adventure as well. I would love it if it ended up being something we did as a family!

Congratulations!!! He did a fine job. I can't soap with my husband around either, he give me a headache! It never fails I'm in the middle of trying to get the stuff in the mold and he'll come in wanting to make a sandwich or something stupid.

Ha! Ha ! They must get together on that plan! And kids too! No one is hungry until the kitchen is covered in soaping paraphernalia!

He did great on those colors. I am loving that combination. What kind of colorants did he use? I have a couple oxides and micas, thinking I need some more coloring options.

White is TD, the green was a mix of TKB Hydrated Chromium Green Oxide and Cosmetic Fluorescent Strong Yellow which is also the yellow color. The orange is WSP Stained Glass Sunflower Orange powder. The orange before pouring in the mold looks very pinkish orange which you can see on the edges. If it gels then you get the orange. If not, then you get the pinkish color.

He did a great job! Good for you and for him. :) I can't imagine my husband making soap with me, or designing one so pretty looking. He is very, um, spartan. lol!

Oh gosh, I can sympathize! One time I was making one of my larger batches of soap and I was just about to combine the oils with the lye (they were at *just* the perfect temperature...) but then my husband *had* to be in the kitchen. I freaked out! Luckily the soap turned out fine, though things were pretty tense there for a bit!

Wow. I'd never let my DH in the kitchen. He could have detailed instructions a microwave and still wouldn't be able to boil water never mind trying to melt oils.

You are lucky. My DH just tells me I've got it bad. And frowns when I got to the garage to mix my lye/water/oil as I don't feel comfortable mixing all in kitchen because of my pets.

Your hubby made a beautiful loaf. The colors are spectacular. Great instructions obviously helped.
