Has anyone made soap with Earl Grey or Rooibos (red) tea? I was thinking I could scent Earl Grey soap with Bergamot EO, not sure what I'd use to scent red tea.

I have. I like Bergamot & Chamomile with an Earl Grey Tea Soap. I like fruity scents such as Strawberry or Raspberry with a Rooibos Tea. I also like to use Rooibos Tea FO.

I can't believe there's a rooibos FO. I like the idea of a fruit scent. Do you use the tea leaves in the soaps? Earl Grey is going to be one of my next projects.

Hmmm... I love roobios tea. I've made Peppermint and Green Tea soaps now, both I left the leaves in as an exfoliant.

I just made a batch of Rooibos tea soap this week. I put a small amount of the tea leaves in as an exfoliant. I brew a strong batch of tea with half the water needed. This is one of the few recipes that I gel because I love the dark brick red color I get.

The scent I use is a blend of spiced fig, and earth FO's.

I didn't use the tea leaves in the soap, but I imagine I will soon!

It really is. I use "Earth" FO in a lot of my blends. By itself it smells like fresh dirt but it does a great job of balancing out scents that might otherwise come across as a little too sweet.

The red tea soap was one of the first recipes I ever made and people always seem to remember that and ask if I have any more of it. I've been told that the tea leaves are "a little scratchy... but in a good way".

I haven't used those teas yet but I have used rose hip tea. I use ground rosehips as an exfoliant, and rose EO to scent. I then sprinkle rose petals on it to top it off. It's a great seller!

oh my goodness I dearly LOVVVVVVVE the smell of Earl Gray tea! I have said in the past I would like to make me one of those eye things for sleeping in and fill it with Earl Grey! lol Haven't thought about making soap with it! OHHHHH I just GOTTA try this! We have a place around here where I can get it organic to I think. Thank you for posting this!!!

Hi Orangetree,
I use a 5% rose absolute EO. I buy rosehip tea bags to make the tea. I have also made the tea from whole rose hips. I just slice them open and scrape out the seeds and hairs and boil then for about 10 minutes. I am toying with the idea of buying some rosehip oil(expensive, I know) and adding some as superfatting for a luxury facial soap. I will try to upload a pic. I haven't tried this before so it might not work for me. :)
I live in Ireland so no point telling you where to go to buy the tea bags, lol, but they are usually available in health food shops here.
