Does anybody have any experience using tamanu oil? I saw it on the NDA website and apparently there are two different kinds, Tahitian & Madagascar. The Tahitian one got a review and the person said it smelled like butter pecan, but the NDA description says both smell woody and spicy.

If you've used it, can you tell me what you think it smells like and how you liked it? Also, does anyone know how it compares to Monoi de Tahiti oil?

Thanks.

I've used it and the one I have it smells very strong like walnuts or curry! Mine is the madagascan one, not from NDA though so I don't know if it would be the same.

So, would you consider that an unpleasant smell? Is it hard to cover up?

I know this is a very old thread, but I thought I would reply anyway since I am a new believer in Tamanu. I, personally, think the oil smells very "Nutty" and "Woodsy." Some people complain about the smell, but I don't mind it. I don't think I would slather-up in it during the daytime if I'm going to be around people unless a clever soap-maker was able to disguise or blend the fragrance with other ingredients. But I don't mind the smell at night. It has worked absolute WONDERS for my skin, hair, and acne problems ! Totally in LOVE with the oil and am very happy to tolerate the smell to get the benefits. :)
