I just don't know what to ask! So... if you had five questions to ask an unknown soaper... what would you ask?

It would depend on what attracted me to the soap. If the design were particularly nice, I'd probably ask if they would mind sharing how they did that (with the understanding that, as a vendor, they very much might mind!).

Particularly attractive colors might get me to ask what they used.

Great scents, ask the company the scent came from.

Always realizing, of course, that they may not wish to share, which is OK.

Probably the question I get most when I give away soap is, "You actually make your own soap?" (It's perceived as a very old-fashioned and unpopular activity, apparently).

Post-use, the question is usually, "How did you make it feel so silky when I'm using it but the bar's so hard?" (Lard, dear, lots of lard; you're washing with Porky Pig).

[side note: On Sunday I did have a very nice conversation with a 90 year old lady about her memories of making laundry soap as a young girl.]

See the comment about old-fashioned above. :) I just made laundry soap this evening, five cents a load maximum and superior to that...stuff...you can buy in stores.
