Hiya

Made another one.. and used some color this time and attempted to get a bit of a swirl going on. Used a fragrance oil for the first time (always used EO's before). Its called English Rose and smells more or less like a whole flower shop in one bottle. The mixture was nice and creamy and tracing wonderfully but as soon as the FO went in it became all liquidy again and then started to cut up.

Dunno what happened there, maybe somebody else can tell me because I'm clueless..

Anyway.. kept mixing like a maniac and split up the batch into two and colored one part with half a bottle of 'red' and produced this funky shock orange/cerise shade.. (or a mixture of the two..)

After cutting it up today the swirl looks nice but it is as if the FO is not 100% incorporated because there are shiny patches across the soap..

You soap looks absolutely fantastic , I love the color that you got . Way to go. Different FO's cause different trouble in soap , it sounds like your rose FO accelerated your soap, but you did fine dealing with it . :D :D

:D yowzer!!! love the swirls! :D

if i may suggest, when soaping an unfamiliar f/o, blend your f/o with some of the soap batch oils, about 1:1 ratio, add at thin trace. perhaps soap around 95-100 degrees soap temp, and do not discount your water-try 2.5:1 water/lye ratio. (lye x 2.5 = water)

this will give you a little more time. if your f/o didn't act up, then you can reduce the water if you soap it the next time.

i also keep a journal for each batch, so that i can go back 6 months from now and review it.

if you have any oils leeching out-just let them dry, they'll reabsorb.

anyway, they sure are pretty!

That's great advice, Monet!
