I searched the cp forum for ideas on how to Un-stick my soap to the PVC pipe I used. I lined it with Freezer Paper thinking it would slide out~ Wrong..
It's plum stuck! I've tried heating with a heat gun to soften it. I then searched the forums and tried Badgers 3 soup can "dowel type method" BTW~ Thanks Badger.. Yet, I know this has had to happen to someone out there. I see all Your beautiful PVC pipe round soaps and was so excited to try it. Pretty Please I need a hint here..

The best tip is to ignore it for a while. Stick it in the freezer until completely frozen (in theory to shrink it a bit), then run hot water over the outside of the pipe. Then hope for the best while using something to help push it out.

But really, let it sit for a week or so with both ends exposed to the air so some of the water can evaporate off, then try freezing it again.

Man that sucks, I feel for you. I unmold after like 8 - 12 hours because I cannot wait! I've never tried pvc purely because of this....lol. I wonder if you open up the ends and let it sit outside (its cold here in NY) maybe it would evaporate and shrink enough....

Houseofwool thanks for the advise, waiting is key. Big TY's.
Christinak, I totally get ya. I get so excited and can't wait to see what's been created!
Patience is Virtue! Darn it~
Thanks guys..

Yeah, I agree, waiting is key with PVC soap. I had one get very stuck and I could not get it to budge. I had let my other soaps have a full 24-26 hours to saponify before I tried to take them out of the mold. The one that got stuck, I tried at 23 hours and thought that one hour couldn't hurt. Boy, was I wrong! It was very stuck and I tried freezing it and heating it after, and finally just let it sit out longer while I brooded about it being stuck. I would check on it like every hour (because I am very impatient). After about three hours, it finally came out, but it made it very clear to me that it was moving when it was ready and was not on my time :)

I am a HUGE fan of the round soaps and have found that it depends on your batch. My Bastille recipe is softer and stickier than others that are not as soft. I am with the others, put it somewhere for a few days and then retry. Have no fear it will come out... it just may take a little time. :)

I used my pipe clamps and bean cans to force things along last time. I like the roundness of PVC but the aggravation at getting it out of the mold has me considering going to rectangles. I’m too impatient to give it a couple of days so I’m stuck with force.

All I do is freeze it for 2-3 hours then i put a couple of cans underneath and push it out. I usually dont have a problem and I use freezer paper to line mine too. I do notice however that when I gell my soaps, they come out easier. This prolly doesnt help with your question but this has been my experience and I almost soley use PVC (at the moment) .

Instead of PVC has anyone tried the black plastic pipe they sell near the PVC. It is a little flexible. Might help in removing the logs.

I don't line my PVC, and I don't prep it either, just make sure it's clean. I leave in for 18-24 hours like I do my normal soaps, freeze for about an hour, pull it out of the freezer, let it get back to room-temp and by then it literally just slides right out. I've never had to wait more than that initial hour and a half or so of freezing/thawing to remove.
I would never be able to cut my soap if I left it in the mold for days to a week. It would be too hard by then.

Every comment is gold in my book. From what I see taking a chill pill and giving the soap time is key.
Jcandleattic, So do not line the PVC with Freezer Paper? Wowzers, I can already see that the Freezer paper has curled into the soap "meaning the soap I can see" ~ Thank you guys. I just love this forum..

I don't line my pvc, no. I do put saran, freezer and tape along the bottom since I don't have a stopper, but other than that, nope, nothing. :)

Let me find a picture for you...

Gotta love ya~ Thank you for the reply.. Looks like I'll be checking this method out "once my soap shrinks or freezes" The adventure continues..

Yep, I make sure the wrap is nice an tight before taping it, but I also pour at medium to thick trace too. If it was thinner, it may leak.

Two words - TEST CAPS they are under 1.00 and an asset to soap making. I also line mine with freezer paper and I add a ziploc bag in between the test cap and the soap, just in case...

LOL all that is too much work. If I'm gonna put saran/zip lock on it I might as well just stop there. I've never had a leak, and I've never lined my pvc either. No waste, and it pops right out. :)

I put a cap on mine with a layer of freezer paper between the cap and the PVC. Oh, I also do not line or prep mine. I lined it the first time and then tried the second then gave up :)

I hate lining mine with freezer paper... im afraid NOT to line it and end up with stuck soap but if you say it works, then i will have to give it a try!
