I have a question about the stick blenders. From what I can tell they all have metal blades on them but we are not supposed to use any metal or any kind with the CP soaps....

I just bought myself a stick blender and got to thinking about this.
I normally stirred by hand...*lots of stirring*

So, does the metal not hurt it when using the stick blender????

All the blades I've seen are stainless steel. SS is fine with lye contact, its other metals that will cause a reaction. My stick blender is SS blade and SS detachable shaft as well. I do a lot of HP, so I would be more leery of the plastic shaft warping with the higher temps of HP since I don't wait for my lye to cool, just to clear, before I mix up.

You might be thinking of aluminum, which reacts with lye. Most people ive seen use the plastic blenders with the stainless steel blades. Mine has the entire shaft made out of SS. Ive heard it lasts longer than the plastic ones.

I used to have a plastic stick blender (with metal blades, of course) that was the cheapy $10 model from Walmart. I used it for 8 years (off & on) with no problems. Enjoy your stick blender!!
