It's got a great price tag, but has anybody used it in their soap making? Is it good? I have some on its way to me and I wanted to know if it was good as soap, or if I should use it as a body balm.

How do you make a body balm? lol

you mean Hydrogenated Soy?

For a basic balm you can use a 1:1:1 ratio. Hard at room temp oil: liquid at room temp oil: wax (beeswax)

Play around from there... other waxes can be harder than beeswax so you have to play around with ratios. There are some recipes in the forum, just run a search.

I just did a little bit of a read on soy butter , sounds great for a body butter , I didn't find anything about it in soap though.:(

I'm not sure if it's hydrogenated soy or not, I'll post the link of where I bought it from. It just says soy butter. Thanks for the tip on making a balm!

Is a body butter the same thing? Is there any type of moisturizer that I could make that doesn't use beeswax?

The site I bought it from says it can be used in soap up to 20%, but so far I can't find anything that says how well it works when added in soap. Maybe I'll just have to try it and see how it goes.

from what I understand, the vegetable butters have whatever oil in a hydrogenated base, that is what makes them a butter. So soy butter is soy in a hydrogenated base. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is what it is.
