I have been ordering lye from Bramble Berry and WSP, but finally found a local source (Middle Georgia USA) for 100% lye at the Ace Hardware Store. It was $9.59 USD for 32 ounces (907 grams).

I order my lye on Amazon. I buy Belle Chemical's lye (sodium hydroxide.) If I buy 10 pounds in 2 pound containers, it's $49.99.
That seems like about the same price as yours.

I bought a 30lb container from a local soap company for about 50.00. However, I prefer smaller containers because of the moisture and clumping. I have tried different brands from different distributors. At the end of the formula, lye is lye.
I buy Essential Depot when I can. Best I've found. Buy it on sale.

I get Red Devil lye in 5 gallon pails from Duda Energy through Amazon.
Walmart online. Not sure if it's cheaper, but it is in 2 lb containers, free shipping and take 2-3 days to get it.
Not knowing where you live, but if you are in a big city or driving distance to one you might research and try to find a chemical supply company. But usually chemical supply companies are only cost-effective if you purchase 50lb bags. There was a time before the world shut down when I paid around 0.50 a lb for my NaOH from a local chemical supplier. I do know that after Covid they raised their prices like everyone else. Sorry, I am not much I never purchased lye online.
