soapmaking CP kit

Hi, I can't wait to get my CP soapmaking kit and try my hand at CP, so excited to try this out and end up making my very own soaps....

Soap Making kit

Did you get the one from Kelsie Molds? That is how I got started. It came with everything I needed except for the lye. I love my Kelsie mold and recently got a second one.

no, i got mine through sun feathers it came complete with oils, essential oil, thermometer and lye, they were already premeasured and enough to make 2 lbs. of soap.

That's kind of a neat idea. I didn't know soapmaking kits existed until I started browsing the online forums.

I started with 6 lbs of vegetable shortening, a 25 lb bucket of lye, a digital scale, and a Farberware thermometer which I used once.

yes i think it is a neat idea myself, this would give me a chance to experience making cp soap in a small batch, and until i get comfortable with handling lye....just can't wait to try it out...

i purchased it for $31, mine does not come with a mold just the oils, essential oil, lye and thermometer.

woohoo i just received my kit today and am sooo excited to try it out....but i want to know whether i should mix the lye in a plastic container or glass....some say plastice and some say glass, but i read somewhere that someone had used a pyrex glass mixing cup and it exploded when she was mixing water and lye in it...hope that i can be helped on this....can't wait to make my first cp soap...

A plastic container is better. I wouldn't want to use glass, but some do.

if you like soaping, i would buy your indgredients next time, less $ , i can make a batch 2lbs for 16$.

yes i plan to do that next time, i just thought that i'd try this out though..just wanted to see how i would do for my first time..
