I've been soaping on and off for a few years now and every time i pick back up, its like I'm new all over. I've had some bad seizure spells that caused my memory to get really crummy so what I was once better at, not so much any more. Anyways, I have really soft bars from what I believe is me using too much FO. Will they harden up over time or do I have to rebatch or use as embeds? Thanks for any help

It's best to not assume it's a problem with "too much FO" if you really don't know what the problem truly is. Many times the real issue is something entirely different than what the original poster thinks it is -- it's not just you; this is true of a lot of people.

If you want useful advice, you also have to provide enough useful information for us to analyze. At this point, we're going to just be guessing.

Please give your recipe -- ALL ingredients ALL in weights (not a mix of weights and percentages!) -- and explain the method you use to make the soap.

I'm also curious about this info -- What is "too much FO" in your opinion? What FO did you use? How did you add it to the soap? What temperatures do you soap at? Do you make soap with a cold process or hot process method? If you use a CP method, do you keep the soap warm enough so it gels in the mold?

I soap at room temp sometimes if I prepare it ahead. If not ill soap at around 110 f. My recipe was olive oil 20% canola oil 20% palm oil/lard 20% coconut oil 20% rice bran oil 10% sweet almond oil 10% total 40 oz. Lye 5.48 oz. Liquid 12.24 oz. Additives: titanium dioxide. Mica. Liquid cashmere. Tussah silk. Gingerbread FO 2oz. Its like a soap dough it just won't get "hard" but will make for an otherwise good smelling soap dough?

My ratio of hard oils to soft is 60/40.
Oh thats good to know ill try that

You’ve got a lot of liquid oils therefore it’s going to be soft longer. Did it gel? 2 oz isn’t too much fo for 40 oz batch of soap. As long as it’s within the usage rate for that fo.
Maybe I used to much TD because I premix it with water so maybe I added too much of that? I can't figure it out its like soap clay it just won't get really hard.
