I have been seeing commercials lately berating soap scum left on you after a shower? The advertisers put it as " A dramatization of soap scum left after a shower" Which basically means "********, ********, ********" but people take this stuff seriously, so what is your opinion on this trend to deface soap as a dirty product?

I got bored one day and started reading posts from the last pages of the forum and such (I'm a huge dork, I know) and I found this post, that discusses exactly what you speak of:

I agree with what carebear said in that previous post, that soap does leave soap scum. I just don't necessarily think it's bad like these companies make it out to be. Anyways, I don't mean to post this link to discourage healthy debate, I just thought it might give you your answer more quickly! :D I'd love to hear what others have to say!

Ya know, one thing I've learned on here is if you think of it, it's already been discussed somewhere. One thing I'd like to add is, a lot of these detergent "soaps" keep working long after the shower, you just can't do that without leaving some "thing" on your skin.
And as we soapers already know, the only way to keep moisture in the skin is to trap it in, so of course there is going to be some form of product left on the skin, in fact that is the goal.
I want a humectant that scents me for 24 hours while being genlte to my biggest organ whilst letting it do it natual process. Isn't that the goal???
If I want to strip everything away I'll use zest...(yes, I Haaaate it).

x

i think it's just a ploy to sell their chemical ladened junky products that's worse of a problem than the residue left by natural soap.

anything for a buck!

I keep seeing that commercial and I think... how many people are walking around naked with a black light!?

I think it is much more important how your soap leaves your skin FEELING than how it looks under a blacklight.

Yeah, but the funny thing is, it isn't a black light. It's an artist's depiction of what it would probably look like. Sooo, we have to to think that if it was truly visible under a black light then they would have just used a black light and not had to make a whacky statement.
It's like those anti depressant commercials that state may cause heart problems, " hey, nothing depresses me more than having a fre&(ing heart attack.

...but since soap is a wash off product.... keeping the scent on you for 24 hrs will be hard to come by unless you are using and excessive amount of FO's..Id say soap up, wash off...get out of the shower and apply a good moisturizer...followed by an oil to lock the moisture in... :)
