I thought I would show off my new Soaphutch mold. This is one of Rich's new uber molds. I can do logs both wide and tall, or swirled in a slab of individual bars. I've tried it out and highly recommend Rich. He is a master craftsman. I made two out of the three logs the first time, with no leakage under the divider. They were both goat's milk soaps, with slightly discounted fluid and 3% sodium lactate added. I chilled the mold for 15 minutes only, in the freezer, after 18 hours. The soap was very easy to unmold, with glassy smooth sides. I am THRILLED with my new mold.

I just got one of these uber molds and I love it, too. I did have trouble with one batch having partial gel (first time that has ever happened to me), so I'll have to do a better job of insulating (maybe even stick it in a warm, turned off oven). It's a little disappointing in that regard because I often like to make 2 or 3 batches in the same day and I can't very well put a fresh batch in a warm oven, in a mold that already has a batch or two in it. Oh, well.

Overall, it's a very cool mold, though - and no problems unmolding (I did use mineral oil). I love the smooth, straight sides and the versatility. Thanks for sharing! I'll know who to PM if I wanna talk about the mold!

gel in soaphutch

I did two separate batches in two of the three log sections, and mine heated up really nicely. I REALLY insulated though. I laid a sheet of waxed butcher paper with a big, flat book on top. Then I covered with a couple of folded bath towels. I had to take off a bit when my sea moss started to heave a bit down the center. So much depends on your fragrance, I think. My other hdpe mold has a lid, so it was a bit strange working around this, but the Soaphutch mold is superior in so many ways. :p
