I'm looking at purchasing a wooden soap mold but don't know what size to order. I only make MP at this time and usually in two lb batches. The particular mold that I'm looking at gives the finished soap size but not how many lbs of soap. Can someone tell me how to figure how many lbs of soap needed for this mold. There are 21 finished soaps and their measurements are 3 3/4" X 2 1/4" X 1 3/4" tall.

TIA

Look at the Sticky at the top of the soap form titled How to figure out how much oil for mold titled something like that...Does the listing give the dimensions of the mold itself besides the size of the bars? That information will help you figure out how much oils the log will hold using the calculations in that sticky...

When I put your numbers in Summer Bee I get each bar with 5.75 oz of oils, for 21 bars that's around 7.5 lbs of oil.

It gives the total weight oil, lye and water at 9.19 per bar. That's filled to the top. Why don't you measure in 9oz of water and see if it's close?

Thanks for the reply's. I'll add the site to my favorites for future use.
