I made some soap using some fragrance oil last night. This morning when I took it out the mold, I noticed it is very oily to the touch. There are even tiny dots of oil on the surface around the edges. Otherwise it seems fine, texture is normal and it's fairly hard.

I made the soap with my 75% EVOO and 25% Coconut Oil recipe, and used 1.5 oz fragrance oil.

Will this cure out in time?

That happened with my last batch and it all reabsorbed back into the soap as it cured...

I have this happen sometimes too.....just give it some time and it will probably be just fine.

The only time I've ever had a problem is when the soap has "riced" and there's a regular pool of oil on top.....then it's rebatching time.

1.5 oz of FO in how much soap?
Do the bars zap?
Did it gel?
How was it insulated?

without any information my best guess is that it overheated a bit. it might very well reabsorb. give it time.

1.5 oz of FO in 22.5 oz of oils, plus the lye solution (approx 11 oz.).

Bars didn't zap this morning when I tested them.

I'm not sure if it gelled, I poured it just before I went to bed and didn't check it again until this morning when I woke up.

I insulated it by covering the top with a lid and wrapping the mold a few times with a large towel, and placed it in an unheated oven.

I cut it into bars a few hours ago, and it seemed slightly less oily, so I'm thinking it will re-absorb. Otherwise it seems completely fine.

** Update **

The sweated oil ended up getting reabsorbed as the day has progressed. The fragrance oils I used were 1 oz of Smoky Patchouli and 0.5 oz of Spiced Mahogany.

The end result is a spiced, masculine, woodsy scent.

The color turned a nice earthy tan.

Happens to me too sometimes. The soap is a little "greasy" when I first unmold and cut it, but it absorbs back in within a day or two.

Nice soap!!!
