Soap hutch molds....should I?

I'm on the fence. I really want to. I'm looking at getting the 9 bar/3 log mold.

Who has one? Would you buy it again?

Can you pour light traced soap with no leaks?

I personally dont like that - and you must help it gel

I bought one of the Soaphutch HDPE divider molds and my only regrets are not buying it sooner and not buying another one at the same time. No leaks, no problems with the dividers, no issues at all. I did buy a bottle of food grade mineral oil and painted a thin coat of it onto the dividers and the sides of the mold so that the soap would release, but that was it as far as work or prep.

I finally decided to get a Soaphutch mold, which I ordered last week. I am getting the new Uber mold, which is four inches deep, has dividers for 18 bars, three logs one way for 3 1/4 inch wide bars, four logs the other way for 2 1/4 inch wide, tall bars. I cannot wait until it comes! I have had a twelve-bar Logan Bear Candles mold for almost two years. You must learn how to soap with these molds! I always oil my dividers with mineral oil, and I do line the bottom with freezer paper. The mold gives much better release after it has been used a few times. I always use sodium lactate in my soap when using the dividers and have found that a harder recipe is best. I believe that the Soaphutch mold has some better features than the one I have, including the silicone liner for the bottom and the tool that loosens the sides. After you have made soap for awhile, I think you deserve to equip yourself with quality tools. For me, the next investment will be a Tank, even though I'm pretty handy with a ruler and a knife.

I have 5 of the SoapHutch molds. If I need another one, that's where I will get mine. I use sodium lactate in every batch.

Soapbuddy, do you oil your dividers on your Soaphutch molds? Do you have any problems unmolding the middle logs as opposed the ones on the sides? I am really looking forward to getting my molds. Which ones do you have?

I don't oil the dividers. The more the mold gets used, the easier the soap comes out. My soap gets hard pretty fast. I have the slab with dividers mold, slab mold with no dividers, 2 upright double molds, a log mold and a mold that's convertible from a log mold to an upright mold.

That's quite an investment you have there - FIVE molds! These days I am just hooked on swirling in my divider mold, but it only makes twelve bars. My new one will make eighteen. Did you find that your first batches stuck at all?

My very first batch stuck. I put it in the freezer and when frozen I was able to get the soap out. On the upright molds, it came with pushers, which made it much easier to get the soap out. Now all the soaps come out easy.

Have you considered a Kelsie? I have a couple of those I use for salt bars. Love love love them.

I already ordered my Soaphutch, very expensive mold. I did look at the Kelsei molds, but I didn't know if the dividers were fastened together like Rich's. I ordered a very versatile mold, so I'm sure I'll be happy with it. I just remember how frustrated I was with my present hdpe mold when I first got it. I soap differently now, especially with that mold, adding sodium lactate and decreasing the gm a bit. I think Rich's molds look glossier and smoother than mine did, so I am hoping for a bit better initial release. Do you find the Kelsei sticks at all? They are reasonably priced, and I wondered about getting a nine bar for my daughter. She likes soaping with me, but she mainly does melt and pour. She would like to try making REAL soap I know how much she likes having a go at swirling my slabs, so a slab would be good as long as it doesn't get too frustrating. What do you think?
