**just looked back at the thread and totally missed the part about adding the CM to the oils *slaps forehead*

@cmzaha you guessed right; I've been adding in the coconut milk afterwards so I'll try adding it to the oils next time. I was basing off those half and half recipes that tell you to add the CM at trace, but that clearly doesn't work for me lol. And with reducing castor I take it just add the extra to the CO? @earlene I use pure OO
When dealing with a 50/50 split you do not add in the liquids at trace. I am not to sure where you read it, but I am sure it is out there. Many of us here soap with 50/50 mastebatch lye solution.

IMHO I would add more to other oils rather than CO. I find CO is great for bubbles but can be a little drying, depending on your recipe. However everyone's skin is different and this may be great for you. I tend to use about 20% CO but know some people use even less less than this.

There are no rules on this -- do what seems best for the kind of soap you like and your style of soap making.

I control my coconut % to a minimum, so if I wanted to reduce the % of castor in a recipe, I'd probably increase the % of the main stearic-palmitic fat (lard, palm, tallow, etc). If that didn't seem like quite the right thing to do, I'd look at increasing my main oleic fat (olive, high oleic sunflower, etc.) If that didn't appeal to me, I'd probably split up the extra % among my specialty fats (butters, avocado, etc.)

In other words, I'd increase any fat except for the coconut.
