Hello, I recently made a layered batch using dark red brazilian clay, then sea kelp and cornmeal as colorants. When I took it out of the mold the colors were wonderful but soon all turned dark. It looks all one dark color now. Is it oxidation? My oils were coconut, olive and caster oil. My fragrance was black amber and lavender. Please advise.

Thank you. Theresa

I've not used that fragrance but it sounds like it would darken. Anything I've used that is amber has discolored.

After reading BB description your FO is definitely the culprit. 11.5% vanilla content is high and the description says discolors to a dark brown.

Black Amber Lavender goes very very dark. You can keep it a little lighter by not gelling and using TD, but it will still darken. I swirl my BAL soaps by seperating some batter, before adding fo, and color it lavender, after adding in the fo I seperate out some more to add in charcoal. Makes a very pretty swirl in bal fo. Even though B&B is less than my favorite supplier I cannot go without that fo. I am now getting ready to order 5lbs of it
