Congratulations! :)

What king of goat milk did you get- fresh, powdered?

There are lots of tips floating about on the forum on the different methods of making goat milk soap. I myself use the split method (because I passionately hate mixing lye and milk together  ). The split method works great for me and is so easy.

Here's one thread out of many that describes it and other goat milk methods, too:

For charcoal, I use 1 tsp ppo to a lovely black soap. I just stickblend it right into my oils.

IrishLass :)

I've been thinking about using activated charcoal in my CP. I have a few questions. Is it used like black oxide? Does it turn your bubbles dark? Does it have a smooth or scratchy feel? I see that a lot of soapers use it, so I'm thinking it must be very nice. Thank you.

My charcoal is is coal black and it does have a grey lather but it doesn't stain.

I personally like the frozen milk method but am starting to think about switching it up to 50/50 water milk just to make my life a little easier....

I tried the frozen milk method. It did not melt my milk and by the time I could get anything resembling liquid, the milk had curdled :(

I premix my lye now and store it in large batches so the 'add after trace' method works VERY well for me.

Now if I could just prevent partial gel (or any at all)...I use the silicone loaf molds and so far NO LUCK. Luckily, no one seems to mind except me.

So I froze the GM in ice cube trays and added the lye to that, stirring gently the whole time. Worked great! Only scented 2/3 with Nag Champa (WSP) and the remaining 1/3 I added TD and did a swirl into a tray mold. The GM was really creamy and I can't wait to see how the finished product turns out!

Next up: Charcoal!!!

I can't wait to see pics of your Nag Champa batch. I have some Nag Champa FO which I had intended to use for incense. However, if yours turns out gorgeous, I may have to rethink my decision.

How about doing the same thing with the charcoal? Half charcoal, add TD to the other half and swirl. I'd love to see a black and white swirled soap. :D
