Ok I have about 200 bars of soap curing in the house as it is, but I am home alone today and want to try out a recipe. So I make a batch this morning with no scent or color, and it was so easy and looks so nice I started a second batch this afternoon with color and scent. So I am stirring the second pot of the day and my stick blender dies. No problem I just get out the other stick blender that is for food only and use it. I will have to get another one for food now. I get the soap done it looks good, I clean up and then go to take my gloves off and the thumb of my rubber gloves comes off in my hand. So now I need new gloves before I can make any more soap. Maybe I am using my equipment a little too much.

Sounds like me. I just figured I have about 200 bars of soap too and it's going to take me years and years to use it up. But I still make more and more and more! I'm the same way about equipment too. So funny!

What part of Montana are you from? I grew up just south of Flathead Lake.

200 bars of soap

I have a gigantic storeroom in our basement that has a lot of shelves that I cure my soap on. I am trying to ship it out to my relatives as gifts and for input. So besides my soap making costs, I have shipping costs of sending boxes of soap off to be tried by family and friends far and wide.
I am south of Missoula.

Too funny! I'm the same way! I put a name on a sheet of paper and lay it out and then go "shopping" for each person. It'll cost me a lot to ship it all out but I'll have more room on my shelf! I purge about once a year.

*Sigh* I miss Montana.

I have about 300 bars in various stages...I've completely taken over the pantry as well as having added more drying racks! DH is a bit disgruntled...all in my master plan to have my own "soaping shack"...bwaahaahaa...

I probably have about 200 bars on the curing racks at the moment, and I still don't have much soap to give away. I went on a castile kick for a while and so all those batches just have to sit there. It was weird when I went to put together a hostess gift yesterday and realized how little soap I have actually ready to use.

That's funny, My DH keeps saying that the economy is going to tank and we'll have to live of the land and all that stuff. We'll be the cleanest family in town with all the soap I have (around 2000 bars), maybe we can barter it for food or something.

a sickness

I think the only reason anyone starts selling their soap, is to pay for stuff to make more soap. Here in Montana, I could be a soap squirrel, or a soap chipmunk, but I think I am more likely a soap packrat. I am not going to replace my rubber gloves for awhile, so that I can't make any soap. Maybe then I can actually get my house clean or something else I should be getting done, instead of making more soap. I think it is a sickness, you barely have one batch in the molds and you are thinking of another recipe to try.

I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one does this.

This is why I now have several molds.
