Do you throw away alot of oils that have gone bad or do you use it up before that happens.

If they're bad, I don't use them. Why combine good ingredients with bad ones? It would be even more of a waste, no?

I haven't been soaping long enough to really make a good statement on this, but I will say that I aim to buy oils in a quantity that I plan to use up in 3 to 6 months. That way, I can still get a decent price, but I don't have to worry about them going bad. I have not had to throw any out yet.

I've tossed old oils. I don't work with short shelf-life oils in soaps any more. I do purchase small amounts for skin care, but am very careful not to over-purchase those.

I don't use rancid oils either,, but I had some apricot kernel, avocado, grape seed, walnut and almond that I have been experimenting with in various recipes but I feel I can substitute them for oils and butters with a longer shelf life so before they go bad I am giving them to a friend who is a massage therapist.

If I move on to skin care products I will not be buying it in bulk,, it gets iffy quickly.
